Basically my horse cut her leg bad back in Feb all the way down to tendon, it has healed and just left bald patch now.
But just over a week ago I noticed a bump starting to appear just below and to inside of old wound.
Here is pic

I assumed she had just knocked herself as no lameness or much heat, didn't mind me poking and proding it. It had gone down abit yesterday but she had the day off before. I have been working her as normal as no lameness, so lunged her yesterday. But today it is even bigger

still no lameness and only fractionally hotter than other leg but has been abit hotter ever since original wound.
I will be phoning vet on tuesday for advice but just wondered if anyone knew what could be:confused:

Thanks :)

another pic, it looks bigger in pic than real life not sure if it's angle i took photo, plus has had abit of bump where wound is too all along.

Is the wound fully healed, it looks a bit 'scabby' but that could just be the pic? I wonder if it could be the start of cellulitis, especially if the wound isn't fully healed. I would try cold hosing and see if that reduces the swelling at all and possibly some arnica but if no reduction then would definitely get vet tuesday, if it is cellulitis then early intervention makes a big difference.

The fact that there is still heat would suggest that there is something going on inside so perhaps a foreign object is preventing full depth healing, I had a mare with an over reach wound that just wouldn't heal because of a speck of dirt inside it. It kept flaring up over a period of 2 years until we asked the vet to operate on it, the wound then fully healed.

GET VET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't wait prob synovial but still best be sure .
If its that big something is not right . Even if you have to pay extra being bank holiday its worth it you would never forgive yourself if one day made a difference in treatment :(

You can't take risks with joints could affect future prospects . Phone them tomorrow get them out .
