Pls recommend trailer mechanic - S Cambs/Beds? Desperate!

I would really appreciate some recommendations!

My 'new' (2nd hand, v old Rice) trailer has a sticky wheel & it's something to do with the brakes/bearings. So far, both the people recommended to me have failed to come out! I don't want to use either person who used to fix my lorry as one was £££££££££££ & didn't fix the problem while charging me & pretending that he did & the other one took 3 months to get it thru its MOT & ignored all contact during that time so I had no idea if or when I would ever be mobile again.

Hence the switch to the trailer... so that I wouldn't EVER be stuck in the position of being grounded due to mechanics! Not working out great so far!

Could you perhaps get your local agricultural engineering firm to look at it. They are used to driving to farms etc. A horse trailer isn't too complicated and pretty basic when compared to some of the work they do. Or a local garage. Trailer brakes (especially the old Rice models) are the same as car brakes of a similar age. My old Rice had Morris brake parts and wheels.

I didn't think of a mobile mechanic, so will have a look. I've also used a v good tractor mechanic when our little tractor was playing up, so will dig out his number.

Unfortunately the trailer can't really be towed anywhere. The car was really labouring to get it home & we were wondering why a v6 Landcruiser was struggling to tow an empty trailer! It's as if that wheel is being braked all the time. I wouldn't want to tow it so as not to put a strain on the car. I think we were probs lucky to get away with it on the journey home.

(Of course, the seller is denying all knowledge, saying it was fine & in regular use, etc.)

Found the tractor person's mobile & left a message. Yay! Thanks for the suggestion as I wouldn't have thought of him.

Maybe I'll be back on the road before my horse & I have retired!
