Went to Chepstow and did the PN. Walked the course and it was a bit scary. First two fences were box house fences and right by the halt box so it was very busy which isn't great with Charm for an atmostphere. Anyway walked it quick and dashed back to get ready.
Did ok dressage test but she hollowed in canter transistion both times and we finished on 35.
SJ seemed straight forward so warmed up and went in. I tried to sneak Charm to the start through a narrow gap between a triple and the commentators and she had a major napping fit

I thought it was cause I had spurs on but I took her the other way and she jumped fine. Had one down which according to the people outside blew in the wind. As I didn't think I'd get around the XC

Quick change and over to the XC. She was really naughty at the start couldn't cope with atmostphere. Had a lead into the box and thought I'd better kick on to the first. Rode really hard and she flew out and cleared one and two beautifully. We rapped 3 hard then seemed to get into our stride and she flew. I rode really aggressively and it suited her better. Got to the last but one fence and it was a tiny log on top of a drop into a sunken road and out. I didn't prepare in time and ended up checking her too late as we were coming fast not backed up with my legs and she stopped

Wouldn't jump from standstill so came again more forward and she flew, then went and jumped a narrow double of houses on a curve fine and the horse shoe to finish. Lovely course and it rode really well. Cross with myself but really pleased with Charm.

You had a day like mine, frustrating but bits were great.

some do, my old mare did. I think if i rode Snoop like it i would be in the next county!!

Quite fancy the trip up there one day, i take it it was no where near as wet this year lol

Sounds like you had a lot better day than you expected, don't beat youself up about the XC fence (though I know I would)!!
I'm sure it will all fall into place the next time.

I did exactly the same thing with a little log at Shipton Moyne a couple of years ago. Sometimes I think you cannot completely take mares for granted

Sounds like a really positive day though. Silly couple of moments from her, but a respectable score... Must coordinate some later season events, I have a long list now for poor S after June.

I'm off to Llanymynech (I can't even spell it!) if I've got in. It's miles away but it was the only one I could fit in with work commitments in June. It's in about 3 weeks. Then hopefully Salperton Park again if I get in! I did put a sticker on so fingers crossed.
I'd imagine there's lots of us going to Salperton Park?
 
Like I said, I think that's a fabulous result - just a question of fine-tuning now and making sure you check a bit earlier, but hell, so much better than last year.

I reckon it's that fab new XC coach you have

I'm not starting till JUly, but am planning on doing Shipton Moyne and Cheltenham in July. Considering doing the new one at Exmoor, then shall have to get organised & decide what else to do in Aug. Poor S won't know what's hit her. We were both knackered half way round the SJ yesterday.
 
I am embarrassingly indecisive tbh. I was so broke the last couple of months that I simply couldn't afford it. Also I have a couple of friends who are looking for horses for their offspring, and they are looking for horses pretty much like Sienna - and they are like golddust. In the next year I shall be looking for a horse just like Sienna for Will and so I might as well keep her for him - if that makes sense.
I decided to go out and buy a youngster instead... bit sad really but short of a lottery win a couple of months ago, not a lot I can do about it....
Course now I'm feeling a bit more flush but that's the way it goes..

Just had my 1st vet bill, for Corrie's 1st failed attempt. For the stud fee, AI collection and vets fees I have already spent more than I did on Gem when I bought her as a yearling

It's definitely cheaper to go and buy one and you get it alive and you can see what you are buying

You've just described our likely scenario. I was going to have to fork out a grand, as a minimum with no guarantees. Wasn't much of a hoice tbh, didn't have the cash...
