Poachers using dogs to bring down and kill deer

You've only got to say an angry word to get your guns seized in Scotland. My neighbour broke planning regulations and I told him what I thought of him over the fence. Guns gone for 10 months and only coming back now with the help of my MP!
 
Quite a few gamekeepers have been badly hurt by poaching gangs. It should be the police or nobody. Proper pest controllers will have written permission from the land owners and will often notify the local police of where and when they will be operating. Do not try and take the law into your own hands, it is dangerous and illegal. Unfortunately some farmers have started killing off hares on their land to make it unappealing to poachers as a lot of damage has been done to fences and land by their activities.
 
I think they get more pleasure from the chase than the kill as they often leave most of the carcass. The police don't bother with them much because they know full well which part of the (travelling) community they belong to and don't touch them with a bargepole.
