hi all. At the moment I wear my race safe protector. I wear it when Im schooling my 5 year old. I came off my horse in Jan and dislocated my shoulder ( I was wearing my body protector) and and came of again last sat and dislocated the same shoulder again (again I was wearing my body protector). Im thinking of buying a point two air jacket. Ive read you can wear these on their own or over the body protector. Im thinking my race safe protector is shunting my shoulder forward when I hit the ground and the point two air jacket would cushion my fall and not shunt it forward. I dont event, only dressage and schooling. Does anyone recommend the jacket to be worn on its own. Thank you.x

You can wear your Point Two on its own, I know a few people that do. I think for BE you have to wear both but as you aren't doing any eventing (sensible girl! :D) that's not an issue. Would the rapid inflation still aggravate your shoulder? Just a thought.

Hi, If you view the point Two web site you will see that they have a jacket available which incorporates a body protector, believe its the race safe. I do wear a point Two on its own and tested recently! Does what it says on the tin. :)

I did think about the shoulder pad but im worried with the shoulder pads they will not protect my shoulder from popping out again. Do you think the air jacket might protect my shoulder a little more?

The problem with shoulders is that once they've been dislocated once they are at far more risk of popping out again! Because all the ligaments and joint capsule stretch with initial dislocation. Often they're redislocated by the rider leaving a hand on the reins as they fall and pulling it out - short of tying your arm to you side a body protector or air jacket isn't likely to prevent this. The best way to prevent this would be doing some strengthing and procpriocetive exercises to help you keep the shoulder where is should be! (I am a physio -speacialising in horse riders ;) )

I'd have thought you'd be better with a shoulder brace and shoulder pad and exercises, I can't see that the POint Two would help keep your shoulder in.
