whats does everyone think now..... will they be made standard in eventing and are there any other up and coming brands/ or body protector/air jacket combo's on the market. i got mine from www.wadswick.co.uk they were very helpful...Point two air jackets must have saved hundreds of lives this year alone not only in competition but for alot of leisure riders also...

I don't think they can be become compulsory until the price comes down as it's not afforable for the majority of riders. I think they are great my self not just for eventing, the reason I bought mine was because if I fall off eventing I need to be able to work the next day

Daughter got accosted by the Point 2 man at Tattersalls, and decided to be upfront on her opinions - he wasn't best pleased by it. He also had to admit, publicly, that had she had her 'moment' at the chase fence wearing a Point 2 [see last weeks H&H, page 2], it would have detonated, causing her to fall. As it was, she wasn't wearing a Point 2, and came home clear, despite pony having 3 shoes from Fence 4 onwards.

What concerned her was whilst she was talking to the gentleman on the stand, she queried about the automatic deflation of the Point 2, and surely it should be the paramedics decision to destabilise the spine. The response was 'if a paramedic isn't with you in three minutes [the deflation time] there's something seriously wrong.' Daughter then raised the point [which I think more people should be aware of] is that when you are cross country schooling, or the type wearing a Point 2 for happy hacks / 'leisure rides', if you have a fall, and need medical assistance, come hell or high water the paramedics will not get to you in 3 minutes. Should you have a serious fall cross country schooling, or hacking, and seriously injure your spine [we know of this, happened to a friend a few years ago], the injury could potentially be made worse if you are wearing a Point 2.

TW - do you want to plug Wadswick just one more time? Why not get them in while you can, lol! ;)

hmm ... after 3 posts in different threads I think we can be forgiven for being somewhat cynical about the motives of the original poster ...

Incidentally, how on earth can they justify charging an extra £84 just to have a (plain) colour other than black? And does it come with all the necessary bits and pieces as got the impression from looking at the aforementioned website that they are all extra?!
