Hey,
A friend is looking at a horse on sunday, it's not her first but just thought id'e try get some more pointers for when she views it.
You never can turn down help and pointers.
Let me know if you can think of any thing interesting?!
Thanks

Have seen the record before you go. Video it with owndr and her on it for review away from the yard.
Enquire as to the nature on any record blips. Ask if it has any bogey fences.Test it over unusual things-e.g reflective coat over jump. Hack it out.
Ask will it stand on a box on its own. Ensure if they say will jump 1.50, they will show it doing so!

Check the competition record yourself (it's very easy to do if the horse has any kind of affilliated record) and don't just take the owner's word for it. I am amazed how many people buy competition horses based on complete fabrications on the part of the owners, without doing the simple thing of logging on to the website and checking the information out!

She should try to take her trainer with her or at least video the visit and get the trainer's opinion before buying.

Agree with the above. If you can get a video beforehand even better as if it isn't a "possible" you will know without having to go and see.

Always see them tied up and trotted up so you can have a good look at conformation etc, watch the seller ride first, take someone with you. If you get on with the horse go back with trainer. Do / ask about the things that matter to you - if it has to hack alone then go for a little walk on the second view having checked it does hack alone etc etc.

Do go back to seller in a timely manner and be polite but don't feel rushed into buying.
