Hello.

Favourite breed so lets see you pointers. I generally prefer German to English, they have nicer heads.

My favourites have to be German Wirehaired Pointers :O they are so cute. I have never owned one but I have always wanted a chocolate and roan dog called Aldous and a solid liver bitch called Ava :p

What have your experiances with them been and pictures please!!!

Pointers are gundogs, and as the name suggests, point! They search out game, and point (hold up a paw) in the direction so the hunter knows where to look.

Medium sized, like a setter.

English Pointers - much more domed heads

My equine cardio specialist at uni owns a german wirehaired pointer (very similar to your above picture) called murphy!
he is ace and frequently used in practicals as he will stay in which ever position you put him in until you say release then hes off to find his dad!
very funny and loyal dog!

nice aren't they. I like the wires best - so full of character with their tashes!
i'll find a pic of one 'pointing'

they are 'proper' dogs. they should be covered in mud with a pheasent in their gobs :p

She's pretty solid, she's just got a few flecks on her belly, legs and a bit of white on her nose. Not really seen one like her before?

She's great, a total crack pot, but very cute.

She's just a pet. I'm not even sure what lines she has TBH. I always wanted a pointer and one day my friend rang and said she had a "rescue" one... so we just got her! We have her papers though.

I think she's nice but not sure how nice she is compared to what they are meant to be like! She's taller, slimmer and a bit more boyish in the face than other bitched I've seen - what do you think?

They were taken when she was 18 months - she's 3 now and all grey round her chops!

Looks the same otherwise.. maybe a bit fitter.

When I got Popple I was looking for a smaller dog, but if I'd been able to get a larger one I would have loved a solid chocolate one like Starbuck's Star

Awww, you're so cute pups.

Hope you and your lovelies are ok?

Star is so cool. She's crazy, but so much fun and such a good radiator in the winter! I feel so mean making her and Alf stay at the bottom of the bed in summer! lol!!!

Pointers are the best!!!

They aren't all ours well not technically anyway as we had to have some of them adopted! We have the first two, Pippa and her first born Twiglet! Pippa had 12 puppies on June 10th 2008 and 10 of the 12 (sadly one died at 6 months after swallowing magnets) came back for a first birthday party hence all the photos!!
They are a fabulous breed but not for the faint hearted!

This was Twiglet after all her brothers and sisters went home again

She didn't move for almost 12 hours she was so exhausted (and full of puppy birthday cake!)

All are well thank you

Popple (and I) had a very enjoyable day out racing at Kingston regatta today. Pops especially enjoyed pinching chicken/bacon/prawns from the rowers sandwiches,

and being throughly spoilt by my sister and her bf who were babysitting her whilst I was racing. She then had a lovely sleep in the back on the car on the way home (with 2 of the rowers cuddling her

), and is now snuggled up in bed jiggered!

I really do adore Star, she is just beautiful, and looks such a fun doggie

You must make a point of taking more photos for us to see

Splotchy and Puppy - thanks - the dogs (along with Jenny of course) are the loves of my life! Josh is a bit of a dude! My mum was so annoyed when I neutered him because he would of done well in the show ring apparently. He's energetic, faithful, intelligent and very vocal.

I have to confess I always prefered GSPs to EPs - Daisy was a rescue (from Cala's mum) and she has a very different personality to the german pointers and to vizslas - she is sweet, stubborn and little bit thick but makes me laugh every single day. I would be lost without her now.
Both great dogs.

Iam a house sitter and two weeks ago finished a sit for a client as well as horses etc one of her dogs was a 10 week old German Shorthaired pointer. Ive never had any dealings with this breed and it was the nicest, easiest puppy I have ever looked after. She was mainly brown like the picture of Starbucks pointer.
When I went to do my initial vist to meet the client and get my instructions she said she felt the pup would be difficult. Not one bit of trouble, no wee or poo in the house, took her self onto garden, if I said "wee wee" she did one. She slept in a large dog cage at night. And if she had a mad ten miniutes running round in the garden, I would just say thats enough now go to sleep and she just laid down on her bed and went to sleep. Within 5 mins of trying her on the lead she was waliking properly. I could not beleive how easy she was and neither could the owner when she got back off holiday!!
I have house sat for adult dogs that have been more trouble than this pointer. All I can say is what a lovley dog.

Hello all.

Quest (above) is finally home. The pics are huge so I apologise but here he is..

fynwnk.jpg

He's doing great. Complete livewire, but that's pointers. PROPER DOGS.
smile.gif
We've had two before and the other two were definetely more laid back, even as puppies than Quest.

He's slept in my bed since he arrived and he's a star.
