Pointless Post....

I am going to the stables tomorrow, as I do every week ( I volunteer to muck out, groom, feed, catch, clean the yard etc etc as I enjoy the hands on work with the horses), anyway last week I felt quite down as I went out as an escort on a ride and the horse I was on was being a sod.

I consider myself a capable rider, not an expert, but I will sort of go with the flow!

This horse I was on kept stopping as we went a different route that he had only been on once before, and I could not get him moving in the first instance. The other rider had to come and pull his nose band to get him moving.
The other times he stopped I did get him to move on but he sort of dented my confidence.

Now I am pretty dubious about going tomorrow in case I have another "bad day".

I suppose I feel that I don't want another "bad day" as it may ruin the fact that I really do enjoy helping out at the yard, but then was it just a "bad day" or am I a pants rider!! lol

I know I am being a bit silly and worrying over nothing.

Thank you if you read this far and sorry if I bored you! Had to get this off my chest......If I started talking horses to my hubby I think he would fall asleep! lol as well as him telling me "not to be so stupid"!

Don't get despondent, think of it as a challenge! "I will make this horse work tomorrow"

Difficult horses make us a much better rider than push button ones - its character building don't you know

Yep as above, horses are stupid, definitely doesnt mean you are a pants rider. Its a bit like having an annoying fall, doesnt make you a bad rider but it does give you something to learn from. Maybe talk to one of the full time staff and just ask if there is anything different you could have done.

No, you're not a pants rider, + no way is your post pointless x Comments from other friends are positive also.

As i see it, your riding centre is legally obliged to provide a suitable lead hack horse (are they BHS/ABRS approved? Or approved by a trekking group?)

It sounds like the poor hoss didn't have a clue what he should be doing. Maybe you'd like to mention this to yard manager? Appreciating this is probably scarier than taking horse out again, but sounds like there's a big safety issue here, friend, hence my question about BHS, ABRS etc, who will lay law down, tell all what's what, hopefully before you get hurt.

Other yards may make your personal safety, + that of clients, a higher priority
