Parked the car this morning to go and catch the train and found an iPhone at the side of the road.
Checked the phone had a charge so turned it on to try and see if one of the last numbers was maybe a 'mum' or 'home' or something that could phone to track down the owner, but the phone is locked so can't access it, fine so I'll wait until I get to work and I'll contact the network provider to ask them to contact the customer to contact me at work.....no they can't do anything I'll have to contact the local police station as if the owner reports it as lost/stolen they will need a crime reference number (apparently it's now a crime to lose things), phoned the local police station to where I found it to let them know...'oh just hand it in', now I'm on the train at 7am Monday - Friday, some nights I do finish a bit earlier and could be back in the town I live just before 5pm, but not with enough time to get from the train station to the police station before 5pm and other nights I finish my office job and go straight to my other job (bloody horses cost too much).
So for trying to be honest (I know how much the excess is on my policy if I had an iPhone) and get the phone back to the owner I've had nothing but hassle, currently have left the phone turned on in the hope that someone maybe calls it and I can get them to contact the owner and get them to collect the phone from my other place of work tonight.

And to top it all off I've broken a nail, think I need to go back to bed and stay there!!!!

Rant over.

How about this one then, last year I was taking my 3 dogs for a walk locally in the woods. I saw a bag in the bushes at the side of the path, not hidden at all. Thinking it may have been stolen and contained something that needed to go back to the own I looked inside, school books, clothes and a mobile phone. Not a good or expensive one so guessed it wasn't of any interest to a thief. I tried ringing "mum" but the person who answered knew nothing of the number or anyone who may have had it, they were down in Somerset and I was in Surrey, very strange.
So, I rang the local police and told them, they said hang on on to it, took my details incase the owner contacted them and about 2 hours later I got a phonecall from an irrate Father of a boy who had left his bag "hidden" in the woods while he went off jogging across the downs and now he had no way of contacting his Father when he was ready to be collected !
Pardon me for trying to help.
I told him that the bag was in full view and no attempt had been made to hide it, he refused to believe his son was that stupid (I beg to differ on that one)
The next person along could have easily kept the bag and it's contents if they had decided to do so.
He came round a hour later and must have had a think about it, as he turned up with a box of chocolates for my Mum & I as a thankyou. Don't know what to make of it all but it does deter me from trying to help others, if I see a bag in the future do I run the risk of it happening again.
Some seriously weird people out there!
Oz :)

I think I may have banged my head when I got up this morning, normally I would have said 'sod it' and picked it up and put it on the wall off the road or sold it on eBay (kidding), but this morning i thought 'what would I want to happen if i had lost my phone', that'll teach me!!!

Try banging it again and reset your 'niceness' back to its orginal setting.

Seriously though, OH lost his wallet recently on a trip in Denmark. Thought he'd never see it again, but called the police station anyway. He was so chuffed when it had been handed in with cards and money intact. He really made his day to find someone had been so honest.
