pointless rider injuries

I stupidly got on one of my old ponies years ago bareback, with nothing but a headcollar on to ride it back down to the stables. He spooked and took off - I landed upside on a fence post with my leg up it! I had one WOPPING bruise after that one, ALL down the length of my thigh.

Ive also fallen off on a barbed wire fence before. Needed quite a few stitches after that one!

also really hurt my toe once when had to kick fleur in the belly. Don't like to ever kick a horse but she kicked out at me and I follow the 'body language' rules that to show dominance you should kick back. Lets say she felt nothing I felt a lot!!! But on the plus side can't remember her kicking out since!

fell off riding up hill from feild bareback, no hat and only a headcollar

someone had put some plastic bags of something round the corner and i thought "Ooo he might spook at that" before catching him
yes he did and off i came, lost consciousness and needed stitches in me head as he caught it with his hind hoof on the way down

really embarrassing and totally stupid duh

I've had lots of these too, it seems being around horses is more dangerous than riding them!

I was leading a horse into a stable just using a headcollar. He stopped and pulled back and I didn't let go of him so went flying into the air and landed flat on my face. I just sort of lay there in a bit of a daze while this horse stared blankly at me

Earlier this week I was feeling my horse's fetlock because she was lame and she lifted her leg up and knee'd me in the face. I still can't chew on that side

But my best one has to be leading a horse out to the field and opening a gate for a friend. Somehow my leadrope became entangled in the gate, the horse pulled back and the metal lever on the top of the gate hit me in the face, knocked me out and I had to go to hospital with concussion. I had the most AWESOME 2 black eyes and a huge lump on my head for weeks.

most of my falling's off could have been prevented

I have been given a leg up and fallen off the other side breaking a tooth.
Gone for a gallop without doing up my girth properly.
Ridden a pony that bucks with jockey length stirrups, pony bucked flew off, held onto the reins and got trampled.
Have done the whole pony refuses a jump but I jump it without her thing too
Ridden into several branches and gotten some painful scratches.
My excuse is I was an irresponsible teenager at the time

Recently I have bruised my hips sliding down the ramp from the muck heap in the rain in front of everyone (very embarrassing)
& fallen off Fudge for no particular reason whilst cantering, breaking 3 ribs.

Just thought of a couple more

Amber nudged me in the back while I was leading her out to the field- put me out for nearly a month

Damagd ligments in my wrist mucking out.

Was getting Amber in and she was being silly. The gate way was 3 strands of electric fencing so started at the bottom, Amber started to push through, the top strand came off at a million miles an hour and the handle hit me in the hand and cracked 2 bones.

yep ive thought of one more....

riding bare back to the field leading one on each side as well, got into the field and before i could get off the pony on my right went to the left and the pony on my left went to the right! luckily the horse i was actually sat on didnt move an inch otherwise i could be seriously squashed! i just sat there twisted xxx

When I was 14, went to the local show to prance around and generally show off on very skittish new horse. Showing off to such an extent that I thought it would be really cool to jump a xc fence on a downhill slope that faced all the warm-up areas and show rings.
Horse did an enormous jump over the fence, unseated me, then proceeded to fly-buck and charge down the hill towards all the other horses. I landed in a crumpled heap, saw stars for a while, then crawled up to see my horse standing very demurely and smugly having been caught by the people I had been trying to impress the whole time.
Ended up in A&E for 4 hours to have my broken collar bone strapped up and wrist x-ryed.

jumped on my old loan pony after spending hours grooming him and carefully applying coat shine LOL you can guess what happened just slipped right over the top!

a mate of mines hubby was fixing a trailer and took the springs of the ramp he was doing some thing and forgot to put the springs back on, the ramp came down on him and crushed him under neith(sp) he came out of hospital looking like frankinstine aparently the doctor said he didn't need an xray cause he could already see his skull

There are a few but the one that jumps out is after Id finished popping round the xc jumps in our jumping field. Was walking back towards the stables, chatting away to my friend, not looking where i was going, Oscar tripped on something, lost his footing, I turned round to find no horse in front of me so i slid off right over his head. Think both of us where miles away but it was only in walk so v funny but really hurt my bum!!

I've fallen off the mucktruck and skinned my shin recently, have large hideous purple scars, especially for wearing skirts through the summer! Flash often decides we're off somewhere in the sand school, I either end up smashing my knees on fence posts or my head ending up in a connifer hedge haha!

I got hit by a fence once, horse put its head through to munch grass then pulled back pulling fence on top of me. I had concussion and carted off to hospital. I didn't see it coming and thought i had been shot, everyone else just wet themselves laughing!
Also showing off once, i put a massive pile of haylage onto a low metal trailer and proceeded to get everyone to watch me do a "dive" onto it. Totally misjudged it and ending up jumping straight onto the metal edge with my shins!! Not pretty!

I caught my little finger on my horse's neck going over a fence (not sure what it was doing sticking out) and broke the bone between the finger and my wrist. It was very painful. Then 1 week later I caught the same little finger on the indicator when I was driving - the pain was even worse the second time!

I got on Cropi in the field to do some schooling, I was just doing up the girth, she spooked, I went straight out the side door, dislocating my shoulder.....tacking her up to go out for a ride, I was picking out her feet, she spooked an her hoof landed on my foot, result....big toe broken in 3 places
