, i persuaded my dad to take me round on a lead rein (the shame

), my horse was an absolute star and looked after me all the way round, we didnt really need the rope (but made me feel a bit safer)
i had a serious case of jelly legs when i got off, but im so happy!!!

Thats great, well done for not giving up. There's no shame to being on a lead rein. I taught daisy to hack alone by OH taking her out on a lead rein and then gradually giving us more and more time off it.
 
Well done! Nerve can be hard to regain, so good for you!

No shame in a lead rein: my first ride on the Spooky Pony was a very short hack at walk, with his then owner holding on to his bridle (he hadn't been sat on in well over a year). It was a very short hack indeed, because after about 200m or so, he spooked (tearing loose) and dumped me in a mud puddle, and ran home.
