WELL DONE!!!! Onwards and upwards!

When I got my first point on the Grumpy Boy I was pathetically over-excited and when I saw it in black and white on the BD site I'm ashamed to admit I could feel myself filling up.

We have managed to get another 5 points since then and my two aims are to (1) get over 65% and (2) get his points into double figures.

phoned both trainers and first comments i got was: 'And, Why didn't you win!!!' but they were both over moon for me... and my other ride is looking closer shhh............. fingers crossed

Take it steady kick_On. I was ridiculously excited when I got 6 points in my first outing - first in both tests. Smiled for a week until I was told that if I had got 65% I would have qualified for the regionals (I got 64.5% in each test). I ended up with a lot of points but no qualification. I was bascially using up my points allowance.

Since then I have focussed on prelims and am leaving the novice tests until next year when hopefully my scores are a bit better. Going to try and qualify in prelim.

Saying all that - nothing is better than seeing your name on the BD website......

yeah my trainer is keeping a closer eye on this, she says you've got to box cleaver, don't go all out just for points cos you'll soon be out of novice

and then you'll be playing with big boys and horse it up to that at mo.
At mo staying away from quailfier as comps are very hot and really doing prelim with sometimes doing novice to learn the game

snap, but winter is more difficult to find unaffli stuff, but last comp in Nov then to gg having break and back into work new year really for spring

I must admit I have thought about giving her a 4 week holiday during the worst of the weather - I would give both of us a break.

Good luck with it all anyway - will have to keep posting on progress. I only went affiliated at the beginning of Aug so am a baby affil rider too.

well done - i remember my 1st one - was so chuffed. and then my 1st placing and seeing my name in H&H in the results at the back - amazing! Soon clocked up too many points and put myself out of novice though - got 81 now. And that was with focusing on qualifiers - we did manage the winter semi's 3 times and the area festival finals though, so cant moan too much!

Yeah echo the go steady and figure out what you want to qualify for and stick to it.

My boy has 160 points now. When he was still in novice I won a novice and had entered the ele on the same day, which I did (knowing the rules) but didn't think I would win the novice- so would have been part qualified at Nov Restricted, but then couldn't go for the second half at restricted. Also we went out of novice points Very quickly.

Well done - we gained our 1st points a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't stop smiling!! Hadn't thought about gaining points too quickly as I never thought I'd get any!
