I don't have any input bar taking off the lead. It's all natural. All I ask when he's hunting/running is that he obeys the recall and turn whistle. He is free to point/flush/chase currently

Ok, that’s interesting to know. So the steadiness will be taught later?

Yes, for flushing breeds it's easier to let the birds teach them they can't catch them when they're little
