I just thought i'd post after my new book turned up today as I've been trying to find a decent pole/jump exercise book for ages! I just got '101 jumping exercises for horse and rider' by Linda L Allen. It covers from basic to more advanced and is very clear what you should keep check on as well as being very well described with clear diagrams, distances etc. I plan on taking my one horse back to basics a bit and my mind needed some new exercises to keep things varied. In theory you could work through each exercise at a time (which i think you are meant to do), or just pick and choose the ones you fancy.

I'm impressed with it!!

It was under a tenner too, definately one worth having. Even if you dont jump, the pole work exercises are quite nice in themselves in a variety of ways.

Yes definately, it could be used for anyone i'd imagine! It's so well explained it would be fab for someone who's never rode over a pole to quite an advanced jumping level. I'm suprised how good it is! I've photocopied a few exercises to do tonight, although they are simple exercises i'm going to do, they have handy guides and checks which i can forget when working alone. Its a paperback book so photocopying them will help my book stay clean - in theory!!

Bought it to help keep the work varied and fresh but i'm suprised how brilliant it is! x

The first lot of exercises are in walk or trot, it also tells you to go back to an exercise if your horse is rushing/tripping etc and to move on to the next exercise when your horse is focused etc. It also explains what you should achieve from the exercise - which even in lessons i miss the point of sometimes!! x
