I think they do, I seem to remember a friend going to view a horse which hadn't made the grade. He was incredibly spooky and obviously would have cried if he'd had to deal with football crowds or demonstrators. Unfortunately he also cried at the jump poles at the gate and nearly turned himself inside out. She didn't buy him.
I have no idea, it was a long time ago and I don't remember the asking price. Whatever it was, it would have been too much, bless him, he was beautiful, but wired to the moon.
Rode one at a riding school some years back. He was quite spooky to start with but when you think he's just come out of a situation where every time he went in the school people jumped out at him waving banners or whatever it wasn't surprising. Once he realised that wasn't going to happen, he chilled out a bit.
Thank you guys I may call them and ask them direct and see if I can cut out the middle man (auction). Yeah I guess they would expect a riot everytime they went into the school... Poor sods, probably emotional traumatised for life survival of the fittest
Used to always go through Reading. At least you know you could be buying a pretty well put together horse, just normally one that could not cope with the training. They do build up the horses so these horses can cope with whatever was thrown at it but have to be 100% sure the horse can cope.
The grey in my sig is a police horse that didnt make the grade. Bought him when he was 7. He went through reading market and was bought by a dealer who knew when they were coming up for sale and I saw my advertised in h & h . I've had him 5 years now
As they are sometimes donated they can be offered back to owners too as that is what happened to a horse at my riding school. Would be well worth going direct
An ex-livery used to have one (well, they might still do) - I don't know if the two are connected, but he wasn't the soundest and I know he had a lot of problems that needed resolving and some were still on-going. But I guess there are plenty of non ex police horses that could fit that bill too!
