I really don't know

I've not been home lately so maybe there have been small incidents or rumblings reported in local papers, but can't say I've noticed anything that's sparked it off again.

But then I guess such people don't really need a reason.

:S I have no idea why they are doing this, I think everyone has made their feelings clear that we don't want that,
thoughts with the families of all those killed/injured recently

the dissedents want the british troops to leave. It was all sparked off over the anouncment that there are special forces still here. Northern ireland went into critical security alert on friday night, due to the intelligence here.

The 2 soldiers shot dead on sat night and the 2 pizza delivery guys who were riddled with bullets were shot by the real IRA.

The policeman was killed by the continuity IRA (they took blame this morning)

Gerry Adams (sinn fein) is a complete and utter w****r. The only good thing to come out of this is that sinn fein are loosing masses of support and are at this moment in time hated by most of norn iron.

All police stations and army bases are on red alert for any signs of IRA movement.

this is how the troubles started

which is why im so worried

Only Me, the dissidents are on record as saying they want the troops back on the streets - in their eyes, to prove Sinn Fein have failed in their bid for a united Ireland, that devolution means nothing and that the British are still in control. And so they can shoot more.

Here is a charming quote from RIRA, given to the Sunday Tribune in February 2009.
"With more attacks on the RUC/PSNI we believe we can reach the stage where British soldiers are brought back onto the streets to bolster the cops. This will shatter the facade that the British presence has gone and normality reigns."

These operations were way too well-planned to be as a result of the row over special forces, which only broke at the end of last week.

Can I also recommend this book, which details the origins of the Troubles and which would put even the most rabid sympathiser with either side, off violence, for life.

I am so very sorry for all you guys out there in Norn Irn - I recently found out that my great grandad came from Co. Armagh.

Let us all hope that this dreadful 'killing spree' will cease and that you can resume your lives as normal.

RIP those killed and I hope that the injured make a full recovery.

I feel for you.................

Thanks Doris, tis a bit grim at the minute, I passed two checkpoints today, talk about de ja vu

I have been a journo for a while, but this is probably the most heartbreaking thing I have ever read, said by his wife, today:

"A good husband has been taken away from me, and my life has been destroyed.
"And what for? A piece of land that my husband is only going to get six feet of. These people have just taken my life as well."

So tragic, and it's all so utterly pointless isnt it?

well, the biggest problem is that sinn fein has basically lost control of the IRA
frown.gif

But sinn fein had to say NO to this; they cant endorse it or they loose all popular support.

But reading what Gerry Adams (a possible speculated but not proven former commander of IRA
crazy.gif
) said in the daily mail, basically meant that whilst he did not condone what has happened he cant say that it shouldnt have happened...

I hate norn iron politics

I have never had much time for SF, but I right now am watching Marty, formerly second in command of the IRA in Derry, standing beside the Chief Constable and condemning it outright.

That is good enough for me, we ALL need to stand together on this.

So sad - I can only reiterate what I said earlier. Please let this not turn into the 'troubles' of 10 years ago (and earlier, obviously!).

Words fail me, will they never learn. The majority of NI doesn't want bloody war any more. Enough people have died over the years for what 'for nothing'. My family are belfast people even though i have lived in London all my life all my Aunt's, Uncle's Cousins and many friend live in NI and i for one know for sure that they want no more violence and lifes lost. I just can't believe what has happened

Maybe it would be a waste of time and effort tracing the gunman who "Murdered" this poor man who was just going about his job of helping people........Because they will just let him out of prison, like they did with all the other murderers
(What sort of message does that send out?)

I used to live in Armagh city- had this been going on I would never have considered living there. Which would have been a shame as I made so many friends there- everyone from both 'sides' seemed to get on. I never felt any tension even being a 'brit' partying in the local pubs (Armagh is pretty republic in areas!!). I did once come accross an old man who was telling me to get out of the bar cos I was a foreign brit and they all rallied around me saying 'get over it - its not like that anymore - dont start that shite'.... such a shame for all concerned :-(

I go to school in armagh - one beside the mall

and close to the courthouse

Armagh is very well "intergrated" and tbh, most of us lot (the young 18 generation) dont really care who is catholic/protestant/foregin...
