Policeman hunting

Apparently on tuesday there were a couple of policemen hunting out with us to check if we were abiding by the new laws!
now this seems extremly strange to me! Does anyone else have anything strange like this in their hunt?

Think it was the best excuse for a good day out I've ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friends who are police love doing the hunt monitoring as they are pro and enjoy watching!!!!!!!!!!

Had our local MP out earlier in the season too!
I'd do it for a good day out galloping!

I can see that in the surveillance course requirements..must be able to ride and jump big fences..I don't think so..they were probably there on their day off, if at all

our huntsman has a video jobby on his hat to record the days hunting, to prove they are hunting within the law

No not abnormal. Friend goes out quite often on royal/VIP protection duties, they love it and fight over who gets to go!

We've had policemen out with us before and they normally join in and have a ball!!!

Oh, HHO was full of posts saying the police could never monitor hunting, that police cars couldnt go over fields or keep up, couldnt see everything, etc etc. So today I'm smiling to myself.....

But just because they are present certainly doesn't mean they are monitoring. Half the field wouldn't have a clue if hounds were on a trail or a fox so how is PC Plod supposed to know?

given the swingeing cuts in public spending, the focus of the government on meeting targets in urban areas and the sheer cost in money of hiring and insuring suitable mounts, obtaining surveillance authority from the proper levels and the time and training required..I think it is even more unlikely now that police officers are going to act as undercover mounted hunting act spies.. however if somebody woul like to put me straight........
