I am going to look at a couple tomorrow. All I know about the breed is what I have read on the web. so any personal views would be nice
thanks

I had one that was bred at a polish national stud by the SJ stallion Gosler He was beautiful coloured 16hh. From what I found out they mostly Trakehner breeding. Mine was a BEAUTIFUL moving horse, not the best conf but he had a great jump. He was a fairly hot bugger! He was very tough and sound..

Know 2, both are very different. One is a big slightly rangy but very scopey horse. Gorgeous temperament and really easy ride. The other has more of a selle francais influence, is slightly hotter but again very trainable and a seriously talented jump. he is only 4, but we are quite excited by him

I've only had experience of one and he was a stallion used for dressage. He was incredibly striking to look at but incredibly lazy! His rider did a fab job with him though and got him out winning by the end of the season (at ele level) but he defo needed a lot of switching on! From the replies above though maybe it's unusal to find a lazy one!

My friend uses one for hunting- he is perfectly behaved (despite being cut late) jumps anything and is the envy of the field- he can be a bit bolshy on the ground but never nasty eg turned himself out whist on box rest by pushing out the stable door complete with frame and popping the gate into the field!!

The one I know is a bit daft and if anything can be rather stupid although he is a fantastic jumper and has georgeous confirmation and beautiful paces. He has a lovely scopey jump but could do a good test not a problem. He can be a bit flightey but is usually sensible if anything like I said he is rather stupid

We have one that came for schooling. She had a bad start. At her first show the person that imported her could not believe it was the same horse- he said it would have killed someone!
She loves jumping. My daughter got left behind on Sunday, ended up holding the end of the rains. The horse carried on with my daughter steering with her legs and gpt clear. Only her second time out.
She is not my type but is a nice horse now, was a slow learner but probably from her past. Just a normal horse i think. {We don't generaly have normal horses}

The owners daughter rode her for the first time on Sun - she went from a nervous wreck to a huge grin

If they are your type of horse i would say go for it if they are like her. She has eventer potential

Im riding one atm to be sold. Nice horse but not sure what they are selling him for as im just schooling him he is only 5. I might have been interested but he was out of my price range. I think he is prob going to make a Sj or low level dressage.

Nice natured but a bit flightly, not sure of his scope yet but i am told he has plenty.

Nice looking and im not over keen on WB.

I rode variety of Polish warmbloods for 18 years - the smaller version is of anglo-arab origin and is often mixed with whatever is fashionable at a time (French TBs, SF etc); they are hot, trainable, eventing types but also move very well (if bred well).
The bigger type are mostly of Trakehner origin, often mixed with continental blood (Hann, Bav, Holst etc) - powerful, scopey, good movers, brave, fab jumpers.

One of the best warmbloods for ambitious amateurs there are in my opinion

In the past the only ones which came over here were those that were destined for meat and they were very cheap. We had one which had the most awful temperament - use to kick when I put boots on and if someone held up a foreleg, used to throw itself on the floor to get away. He was very riggy (had him tested and he definitely was not a rig), and was simply just awful. But this was 15 years ago, and things have changed since then.

There are now quite a few in Ireland which they are putting to local mares and producing some nice horses.

Every horse is different (as you can see from the above) so I would go and see if the type appeals to you and whether they perform. I would also make 100% sure about the temperament (although I am sure that we were just unlucky when you look at the above).
