Hi All,

After suffering recently from a bad experience with a Saddle Fitting company it got me wondering how many other people are out there that have had the same or similar problems/issues or have had any issues at all whether good or bad with Saddles or saddlers.

Who was the company? What happened? Did you complain? Were they happily pre pared to help sort the problem out? Did you have to get someone else in to sort the problem out? Did it effect your horse in anyway? How was it all resolved? Did you name and shame them or report them to anyone for example The Master Saddlers Association Or Trading Standards or anyone else?

Or has anyone got any good recomendations they would like to share with us?

Please list the 5 worst companies and what experience you had with them and the 5 best companies and your experiences.

I do understand this can actually be a bit of a delicate subject so if you dont wish to make any info public on here please feel free to pm me if you prefer.

Thankyou

Thankyou for replying.

Barnsby are great! I ended up getting them out to sort mine as the company I bought if from and who fitted it didnt want to know when I wrote to them with a complaint about it.

Barnsby fitter Mary Waistie is fab.

Don't think you will get away with naming and shaming tho.

I had a near miss with a Fife fitter and can supply details by pm to anyone getting a saddle from Fife.

agree with above - 100% ;)

i really recommend andrew sankey who does made to measure saddles - he is the reason my horse is ridden in a saddle - after trying 6 off the peg ones from above saddle fitter - who assured me that the saddles fitted - and me stating categorically that they didnt - i gave up and rode bareback for 3 months - then i was recommended Andrew - who immediatly saw the problem - off the peg are just too staight for my mares back - and as she is a little croup high the saddles were bridging and tipping forward onto the front points casuing horrific pressure

so he made to measue and my banana shaped lacking topline horse has developed into a lovely lady :)

Worst saddle and saddle fitters is easy based on my own personal experience although not sure I should be saying on open forum but I'll give tou a clue. 3 letters, starts with a W and ends with a W :D Reported them to master saddlers association

Best saddles IMO - Albion and best saddle fitter/master saddler is David from Village Saddlery
