What does poll pressures made by the bits do? Does it raise the horse's head from leaning in the bit? There were several people who all says different things :-(

Poll pressure is as it says on the tin, it will put pressure on top of the horses head (ie the poll) due to leverage on the bit. It wouldn't necessarily stop them leaning (I would say to stop leaning you would want to look at the mouthpiece), but would definitely not raise the head it would lower it.

True gag bits (ie Cheltenham gags) have an action which raises the head, but something like a Dutch gag which isn't a true gag (and works on leverage of the cheek pieces) does use poll pressure and so is used to lower the head.

Of course you could get a horse who hates poll pressure and sticks their head in the air because of it, but generally it works on lowering their head. Hope my jumbled answers helps :D .
