Polo - China - Why does it concern me?

I know nothing about polo - but i have been concerned about the way they are picking up on polo - they do not have the best animal record - i know its bizzare and i am sure it is nothing to be overly worried about - but they dont seam to be a kind country - but then are any?

It's a status thing, we ship out the most weird collection of polo ponies to Japan quite regularly. I have no idea what their lives are like, I have only got first hand accounts of what TB stallions and mares go through in those countries.

The guys on the ground running it over there are english aussie and kiwi so they do have a bit of supervision and direction.
