Hi,

I'm looking to learn how to / pick up polo in the London area. Can anyone recommend a cost effective place to try? Prices / good stories all welcome!

Cheers

Ben

My cousin plays at Ham Polo Club - he says it a very friendly place - not sure on prices etc but they do have a web site I think.

Ham Polo were running polo courses through the summer so definitely worth a try. Also Cool Hooves in Berkshire. You could also try Eqqus in leatherhead - they have done polo courses for our pony club - but I don't know if they also offer open training.

A friend trains with a guy in Guildford who is very cheap by polo standards - I can find out his name if thats not too far.

I had a really rubbish experience at Ham, I never went back! Might have just been that particular player who was my instructor but I left feeling really rubbish about the whole thing.

Try West Wycombe - very friendly and only 30 mins down the M40. http://www.westwycombepolo.co.uk/ I played chukkas there in the summer and thought it was really friendly, really fun - lots of laughter and no one seemed to take it too seriously!
