my bloke said he will get me a few polyjumps as a xmas pressy but ive been holding out for sales, as they are so expensive. Anyway anyone have any fews on these over traditional jumps are they worth the money? thanks
Poly jumps are great, quite light unless you buy the really massive triangle ones and much more versatile than jumo wings. Plus they need no maintenance and don't rot. The poles are really light too but be warned they shouldn't be used as trotting poles.
yes, i've got them, and also jump4joy jumps. plastic's much better than wooden, i sold a whole set of wooden ones to get a few plastic ones, and don't regret it. no maintenance, no rotting, and lovely bright spooky colours.
the integral-cup stands (big fat ones with 6 cups down the front) aren't great though... they go brittle in winter and the cups snap off if the horse hits the pole. i told polyjumps the problem and they weren't really interested, which was annoying as they're expensive, and i'd only had them a year. would always buy jump4joy or similar stands instead now, they're still going strong after about 9 years, fwiw.
I've got jump4joy ones and they're great, particularly now they have plastic feet instead of metal ones -I was forever bashing my shins with the metal ones! I use wooden poles though as the horses seem to respect them more than the plastic poles.
I have jump for joy, slowly replacing all my wooden ones with them. I have the poles with half wood in as it makes them hevier. The one which are just plastic have bent slightly in the sun and you can't do trotting poles as the horse sends them flying - no probs with the half wood
thanks guys for the replys esp info regarding integral-cup ones ill give those a miss, i have a budget of £200 for the jumps from my OH and was going to spend about another £100 on poles
ive currently got polyjumps which have weathered well over the years, saw jump 4 joy stand at burghley and definately better quality so will be buying some of them in the not to distant future.
