Polypads and any other kind of saddle pad!

Hi, my horse has somehow managed to get a rub on his spine. I got someone from the yuard to have a look and think he probably rolled on a stone or something (stupid thoroughbred!) so gave me a polypad to put under his normal saddlecloth. It's taking a while to heal but the saddle hasn't casued it as there is a good clearance down the gullet. The polypad is just there to soften it. I was thinking of getting a pad for him as I think it's going to take a while to heal but he'll get quite sweating now the weather is getting warmer, so any ideas? Thanks!

Sheepskin? They are very comfy and horses don't get too sweaty under them.

Whereabouts in the country are you? Was looking through boxes of horsey stuff in the garage the other day & came across a Gel Lite pad that I didn't even know I had!! Its a gel half pad, covered in a very thin fabric.

If I was to use a sheepskin half pad would I use a saddle cloth too?
