Polypads what do people think???

I won a polypad many years ago. I used it a few times and really didn't get on with it so it then sat in the tack room for a few years.

Bought a new horse this year and found that the polypad is by far the best for her to the extent my others are now sitting in the tack room and I've had to find another polypad for her.

Possibly the nastiest wound I've ever seen on a wither was caused (in 30mins riding!) by a polypad: they slip, tighten over the wither, are bulky, ugly things. Hate 'em.

Used poly pads for years and never had a problem. Now using Bucas saddle cloths and Le a Mieux fluffies under my dressage saddles

I've got loads of them and use them day to day on a whole yard. They only tend to slip back when they are new. They last for years and are very hard wearing. By far one of the best products I've ever used.

I love them! Used them for years and never had issues with slipping. I only use the normal thickness ones and don't find them too bulky at all, especially once they have been washed.

I hate them, I school a ladies horses for her and she insists polypads are used under their saddles. They are not a good shape, are too bulky, always slip, make the saddles slip, make well fitting saddles too tight

When I used a treed saddle, I always used Polypads, and loved them. They never moved, and were so quick to wash and dry. Now I'm treeless, the polypads make FAB dog beds !

Lemieux Work Pads are brilliant! They are nice and thick and shaped over wither so don't drop down causing pressure. They only have girth loops at the bottom. They come in dressage and GP styles. I am a convert!

Umm........I think some of my polypads in day to day service are over twenty years old. So, durable YES! Haven't bought any for ages but they used to come in three different thicknesses and have never had one slip or cause a rub. Have used them under dressage saddles, close contact cross country saddle and normal jump saddle.

Thanks everyone for all your replies!! They do seem a bit like marmite, you either love or hate them!! Might see if there are any going 2nd hand on eBay to try, though I am v tempted by the Lemieux work pads which look v nice. Any suggestions of any saddlecloths that people recommend which attach to the d rings rather than girth straps would also be appreciated!
