Ponderings whilst poo picking....

A while ago my friend and I came up with Field Clearence Aerobics... we were going to aerobics classes and decided we could combine some of the exercises into field clearing with buckets and gloves... and stretch and grab and left and stretch... LOL was hilarious!!!

Can't convince anyone down here to give it a go, so now just enjoy spending the time in the field with the boys who love to follow me around and 'help'...

I agree its good for the soul!

I love poo picking - i find it very satisfying clearing the field especially when grazing is restricted and it keeps the flies down. I hate leaving it too long though and it annoys me that others dont do it.

I think all the same things and find myself calculating how much poo each horse produces - i can tell whos poo is whos and how healthy they are and enjoy watching how the horses are interacting with each other and love how they come over to help. One horse didnt help much as he always tipped the barrow over!

I keep wondering how they are still producing the same amount of poo even though they have virtually no grass at the moment and are still looking porky?

I do use it as an excuse to be outdoors and doing a bit of exercise and often do it after jogging to cool down!

My youngster tries to help me poo-pick. He follows me about, waves the rake or shovel about (which ever tool isn't being held onto!), paws the ground by a dropping (mimiking me with the poop-scoop), attempts to push the barrow forward, and then - if being extra helpful - collects sticks to put in the barrow!

I dislike the idea of poo picking - but its actually quite a good job (outside watching the herd, doing some exercise, good time to think about stuff).

I would like to ban birds from scattering the droppings though - very irritating!

My paddock is next to a pond, (fenced off) where a flock of Canada Geese seem to live. So not only do I have to contend with them scattering the poo, on occasion I also have a large amount of bird poo in my field. Urgh I can pick up after the horse but bird poo, no way.
