I'v got a 13 section b that i broke in last year. I'm keeping her for my daughter's next pony but ride her myself as i'm small. i'v competed her at all disciplines but want to focus on dressage. she's pretty but not flashy, is it possible to get above prelim with her? and can i affiliate her as an adult? does anyone have pictures of ponies doing dressage?

Hi yes you can affiliate her that's the good thing about dressage. I went to some dressage with my friend not too long ago and there were loads of ponies especially welshies they are very popular. You can get above prelim no prob if she is capable. I have a 13.2 welsh x appaloosa who is just coming 4 and I plan to affiliate him if I can. I may get a few funny looks with my little spotty pony but who cares. Of course you re prob never make it to grand prix but no reason you can't have some fun! I write at local comps as well and I must say the judges are always fair whatever the horse or pony. Last time I wrote there were lots of big flashy horses but the most honest and hard trying of all was a traditional coloured con and he won the prelim no problems. Hope that helped.

I've heard a lot of people say that any horse can get to at least elementary/medium with good training?
There's a woman who often does dressage at the yard my horse is on with 2 shetlands! :) Not got any pics though...
Have fun! :D

Of course you can and you can make it to any level you like. We have a young rider near us who sweeps the board at any BD she turns up at with her family's homebred Welsh ponies. She made it to the Nationals at Elementary.

I rode my trainer's 14.2hh german pony last week who is working comfortably at Medium and he is just turned 6. He has paces to die for, rides like a horse and is fully expected to make some little girl (or boy) very successful at FEI (the last pony she sold has won 8 successive Novice tests with her new (child) owner).
