My boy is ten & still not brilliant with his hinds for variety of reasons. However, I have found that working him first, then giving him feed whilst his hinds are being done (yes, we've had lots of trouble with saddle and physio unable to ascertain whether back problems due to saddle or something else) helps to minimise the stress and anxious behaviour - also trimming in a familiar area helps. Good luck x

Hi, my mare sounds very similiar to yours! She used to be tricky with her feet, but luckily my farrier has a very calm but firm persona. I would tie her up with a net stuffed with carrots or pieces of apple so she can concentrate on rummaging, and with you standing by give her really good scratch on a single spot her neck. I heard that it relaxes them, tried it and it worked really well. But most importantly try to keep yourself calm and don't make a big deal out it! Good Luck!
