You may see this elsewhere, worth a try:

From www.equinemarketwatch.org.uk and www.shylowen.com We have learned of a desperate situation in North Wales where 30 small ponies out of a total of 67 are still in need of URGENT good homes. They were put through auction last saturday but didn't even raise a £1-00 bid. ameat dealer agreed to take them at £3-00 ea...ch but didn't turn up for collection on Monday as arranged hence they are now in desperate situation. What a terrible place it is where not even meat dealers want these over bred valueless ponies. Please post this far and wide and please if anyone can help at all contact in first instance emw@emwuk.org.uk this is urgent. Can I just stress that these ponies are NOT EMW nor Shylowen ponies but we will do our best to help if we can standing by our motto "We will NOT look away"

Poor little sods.

No, I'm not. If you are seriously interested please use the contact email given. As the poor little mites have just come from market I doubt much will be known about their history.

poor little ponies. has anyone contacted SWHP, they're in mid/south Wales but have lots of contacts and might well be able to help.
good on you Troylimbo1, i really hope you can help.
their breeders should be shot imho. not even worth £1 each. ffffffffffffffs.

Oh that's great, things are sounding more hopeful. Good old JMO7, sorely missed, and you others who may be able to help. You're stars.
Please, if you have any ideas to help don't post them here, email the contact given. I am not EMW, I just picked this up on another forum. If you know of another rescue that might be able to help, maybe you could copy this to them.

I really would love to shoot the barstewards who keep breeding these ponies that no one wants! Wish i could help.

Ditto. Well done to everyone who is helping to secure their future.

If these are welsh ponies, maybe someone should contact the newspapers in wales and tell them what is happening to these ponies that everyone wants to graze the hills to keep it nice but no one wants the offspring, not even the meat man.
Its the same on Dartmoor no one wants poor quality small ponies there just are not enough homes to go around, maybe its time people started to shout about these ponies and then maybe numbers will be reduced.

Has anyone heard if there are still ponies in Wales that need homes? Im looking for grazing so i might be able to take a couple after all, just means putting my own horse on hold.

I've heard back from Elaine.
All details have been passed to Shy Lowen who will go through and contact the relevent parties.
Shy Lowen are the ones dealing with this, with support from EMW. So Shy Lowen needs to be the first port of call for those who can help out.
Bear with them, its the weekend, most of these people are volunteers with not enough hours in the day!

Woeisme

Why do words fail you?

I to have listen to this radio broadcast and found it to be true to fact, sad, and most off all the farmers who had been forced in to selling these ponies by red tape and other such rubbish are deeply upset about the situation.

This country is full of do gooders who have forced the horse meat market out of this country, there is a need for it. Did you know that this country imports tons of horse meat just for pet food! No I bet you did'nt!
I bet everyone of the posters on this topic have got fat overrugged animals that most probably have laminitis or will get it.
These ponies are wild off the hill and will take a lot of time and knowledge to handle not just a case of turning them out in to a field to get fat. The good grass of the lowlands will give them lammi. They have no concept of fences and will climb over them. They don't know what hard feed or hay is. So if you are thinking of rescuing any think have you got the time and the knowledge required!

I have got the time and knowledge, but no longer the resources. Fortunately it looks as if there are some people who might be able to help them. If the farmers love the ponies then why breed them in the first place? There has been no profit in them for many years, and for many years there has been this sad "wastage".

What an ignorant prat you are!

You know nothing about people who post on here.
I have TB`s, none of them fat and none of them with lammi, so tell me, how do I fit in to your "stereotypical" poster on here?

Get back in your box and quit with the sweeping insults

p.s - go away and troll back under your bridge

No i know nothing about the ignorant people who post on here, apart from the fact that they don't live in the real world! Well done to you for keeping your TB in tip top condition, must be difficult. I suggest that you and your self opionated friends on here troll back under YOUR bridge.

What you people don't understand is that this is a way of life and has been for generations and will continue to be. If it was'nt for busybodies making stupid rules like passports and horse tax these ponies would be safe on the mountain in their natural envirioment.

Now i'm going to piss off and get on with my life!
