I just want to put the record straight - no thanks to the red top media c**p that was printed about this story:
There was no dispute between the person shooting and the owners of the ponies.
This was a random shooting, the man in question apparently wondered what it would be like to shoot a pony.
The children did not witness their ponies being shot, but they did find them in the field.
They were not killed outright. One obviously died fairly quiickly, but not before staggering around the field. The second pony survived for about 1 1/2 hours.
The cow that was shot lived for 24 hours before the vet had to call it a day. She was in calf.
The person remanded has been charged with having a firearm without a license, and causing criminal damage. There is a refusal to charge him with causing unnecessary suffering. He will probably be released days after his court case in August.
