I've only read a short part on the link but this caught my eye! Quote... "On the other hand, if the stomach remains empty, the excess gas produced can cause the stomach to rupture, leading to death."
I don't believe this is correct!

Digestion takes place in the small intestine and large intestine in horses. By enzymes in the small intestine and with the aid of microbes in the large intestine. No actual digestion takes place in the stomach.

ps. The stomach is the size of a rugby ball in horses but in ponies I don't know. lol As above, I expect it depends on the size of the pony. Minis will have very small stomachs for eg.

I found out the answer! A pony's stomach is the size of a rugby ball!

B - horse and pony, just like a shetland has the same no of teeth in its mouth as a horse, hemce the reason they are more likely to have dental problems than horses are due to the size of their head.
