Pony abuse: yellow pony meets dave the dolphin

After I posted about my poundland shopping spree that inolved dave the dolphin and a tarpaulin (terry ) some people said they wanted to see the yellow ponys reaction.


Well here it is .
Dave was suprisingly a bit of a non event and so was terry after providng food when folded up . We only did a bit of in hand and lungeing stuff as I wasnt feeling riding after he was a tit on sunday and it had rained all day.

and a few pics of him, dont worry I havnt gone all NH with the rope halter yellow pony just needed a little reminder of his manners as he gets away with all sorts when my parents do him a few days a week while I'm at uni .

He also jumped dave with my coat on but I didnt video that and as I say in the video I cant lunge and video at the same time so its a bit rubbish . Now theres no excuses for looking at a water tray next time he sees one .

Going to try lunge him over poles and jumps more often though as he really lacks confidence without me on top bless him so will see if it helps him and he really enjoyed following me over.

He did have a little wobble about it but I wasnt videoing at the time but a treat soon solved that and it started off all folded up smaller that a bit of paper with a treat on so food won him over .

Thanks, I thought he would hate them and he was a bit concerned about them to start with but he soon got used to them.

I know the pony scaring plan didnt work , I'm going to get one of them shiny windscreen things next time I'm in town .

Thanks we tend to be really good togther but when we fall out its massive . He is a very gentle chap when he needs to be but does have a very cheeky side .

Ha yep I'm going to do more of it as well as he seemed to really enjoy it and he could do with being less looky at strange objects. I need much more practice lunging while filming its ok untill he decides to be silly then I dont have enough hands , bless herbs I very nearly had a summer project that did the same but when ridden would be much easier to film .

if we make that spider jump like the one on that xc course, you can always take it up and have a play with it If it ever stops raining I have a tonne of painting and stuff to do one of those windshield things should be quite horrific I think so very good for pony torture

Its very similar to that I will have a pony that jumps any thing!

think I might pop to poundland tomorrow If they have that shelter thing I'll have one of those or a car shield and drape them over a jump I might also try and rig up something with a couple of inflatable rings over the poles to tie the dolphin and suspend it from the pole...

Yep as I said when we fall out we fall out big time but when we work we get on very well and he was true to form refusing point blank to go over a log similar size to the jump in the video .

It's always fun thinking of new games to play and In the end they become so used to it everything they see in everyday life seems normal. Or that what happened with Lucy. When other horses spooked I could honestly hear her saying "Thats nothing you should see what mum has at home"

Herbs does it while i'm riding him to sometimes He did it the otherday while I was schooling him bareback. I refused to get off. He then sat up like a dog. I had to cling on round his neck to stop me sliding down his back as I was still refusing to get off. Eventualy he got up and I made him canter lots. He has yet to do it in his new saddle. I'll probably kill him if he ever does. It cost more than he did

Just to trot round a few times with nothing on then with a training aid on should only take a few mins and I can use the by way if your field isnt up to it. Oh and nothing that ties their back legs to mouth . Yeah sounds like a plan, shall we go on a shopping trip first? then we can play with the new toys

Sounds good to me I'm sure we can find a patch of field to throw them round on. Don't care what you use if it's just for a few minutes - my hatred of pessoas extends to using them routinely - I'm not daft enough to think you'll break them in 10 mins

Hehe I now just have an image of you and herbs just having a discussion while hes sat down . The plan is to get him jumping such scarey things at home that when he goes out and sees a new jump he really couldnt care as on sunday he shot sideways accross the warm up because there was a diffrent looking jump .

Well as I'm going to be buying it I'd quite like to be able to use it on my own horse quite hapily and its got to have some valid research out there on it .

Either that or our ponies will be so frazzled that we will have to send them to the rest home for traumatised ponies

If I remember chambons have some good research out there so thinking of that but going to have a look at whats out there tonight.

Mine needs no excuses to get off work he is quite good at doing that him self
