I have an 14.2hh appaloosa, she's about 8 years old and almost always bucks after jumping, whether it is 4 ft or barely above the ground. She does this when jumping courses as well...
I've tried getting stronger experienced riders on her, my instructor a while ago was really tall and really experienced and she managed to throw him as well. And I've tried schooling her over poles and building up gradually etc. I've had her for about 3 years and she still does it, regularly check her back/teeth etc, sent her away to be trained as well... still the same. Now I'm scared to jump her because I'm always pretty sure I'm going to fall off. She does it out hacking too.
Can anyone offer any advice?

She's had regular vet and farrier and dentist and chiropractor, I don't know what else there is to check. We've changed her saddle and her bit.
No change

What did your instructor say when it happened to them? Did the hae any idea what was going on??

Some horses do buck out of enjoyment when jumping - a few top horses do it. My horse used to now and again. I used to call them my lucky bucks.

Are you collapsing on landing? Do you throw your reins a bit? Or lose balance perhaps? I always think that if you are riding the horse into a contact and are balanced, the horse can't buck. Sometimes on landing we lose everything for a split second, and the horse gets it's way. My horse uses that split second to grab the bit XC if I am not on the case...

Have you ever lunged/loose schooled your horse? Does it happen then?

Have you had a look at the numnah? Some cheap sheepskin half pads are made from lots of little pieces sewn together, and are not good for the horse. It could be that she has a sensitive back and needs a more substantial numnah, maybe sheepskin. It could be that she needs a spineless numnah, or a high wither one. I love Nuumed, their numnahs are top quality, very reasonably priced and they can custom make to order.

She can be really lazy and hard to get going as well. And she does buck after jumping on the lunge too.. She's pretty nappy, and difficult to get going forward. Sometimes she bucks when I ask her to canter. When she's going forward she doesn't buck in canter but after jumps she does and sort of twists as well, making it really difficult to stay on.
I'm going to uni this year and worried I'll never be able to sell her or loan her to anyone ):

It sounds like an evasion. She knows that if she bucks, you get scared or come off, so she doesn't have to work.

You'll just have to be honest with a loaner/buyer and send her to someone experienced. Someone who isn't scared of what she does may well sort it out. In the meantime, don't jump her, just hack out and give yourself a breather. It may be worth trying another instructor for a second opinion, perhaps a specialist jumping instructor?
