took my riding of my B test yesterday after failing the time before. i passed the horse care first time, but now i've failed twice lol. i got exactly the same comments as last time. my B test instructor and i have been working on my faults all summer and then for the last 2 weeks and i still failed because i was twisted on the right rein, didn't go into enough detail when i spoke (which i no i didnt lol because i was really nervous!) and the stupidist thing was they said my stirrups for xcountry where too long (i felt like a jockey and im always told my stirrups are too short!) anyway, i don't know how many of you on here have done, or had children who have done there b test or have exmammined or what ever fpr it but my instructor couldn't believe it lol. she said the amount of work we have done should have improved me but obviously not so now i am feeling like i can't ride and really bad! i just want to know of any types of comments either you or your kids have had if any!

thanks anyways

i am working towards my B test! lol
my YO and instructor are B test examiners, and last week she failed 5 because they didnt talk enough, they couldnt say why the stable was bad (this particular stable had uncovered light, wires etc.) and also because of conformation.
2 years ago my friend failed because she didnt fit the double bridle properly... shes now in cambridge in her 3rd year of vetinary!! lol

I have done B test and was drilled and drilled for it on stable management. I have a friend who cannot pass the riding at all but I do not rate her riding - she is not natural.

My advice - change your instructor if they are pointing these things out after your test try someone with a fresh perspective. Especially if you have had these comments twice now.

Try and ride as many different horses as possible and jump them it is really helpful and improves your riding no end. Gallop work with really short stirrups will strengthen your legs and get you used to riding really short.

For B test you have to keep talking until they say stop or ask another question. Again I was drilled and drilled in this after all they cannot judge you on what you know unless you tell them.

My daughter has her PC A test and examines at B test and it is a hard one to get. I'm not sure how old you are or what your strengths and weaknesses are but stick at it. They do try to be fair and as it is counted as a qualification for BHS exams it has to be correct.
Before my daughter did hers she worked all summer at an eventing yard to get real experience and strength and have an in depth knowledge while being practical.

GOOD LUCK

Also try to maybe get some lessons off one of the senior B test examiners in your Area, also if we get members that are boarderline or keep failing we get the Area Chief Instructor over to do an assessment and feed back to us, we also have training in the easter to assess your riding/SM and then we plan your training goals and tell you if we think your ready for the test this year (with training) or next year (to carry on training) etc.

What sort of horse are you riding? Is it helping your riding? we have a few horses in the branch that often get borrowed for B test cus maybe there own horse is just not right for the test.

But most of all get a trainer that really knows B test well (which maybe the case anyway)

What Area are you in?

My best advice is to talk. I haven't sat my riding (fell out with the new DC or my branch before I had a chance to sit). But when I sat my H&PC a number of the other girls failed because they didn't talk enough. I was always straight in with my answer so if they asked a question I was a little unsure of I could step back a bit.
