I've never been to pony club nor Camp of any kind. I am running an RoR one in a couple of weekends time and I will do mini in Camp competitions such as Best Turned Out and Tidiest Stable. What others can I do? The Camp is for adults btw I just thought it would be a bit of fun!

Ideas please! If I can do 4 or 5 that will be grand.

I've been to a camp for adults where we did a mix of handy pony / le trec / working equitation obstacles on one of the afternoons
It was great fun 🙂

We are just there Friday evening through to Sunday evening. I was planning on some hobby horse races and dressage 😂

Dirtiest/tinkiest horse is a good one 😂

Matchy matchy is a good one!

Keep them coming! I will be picking up wee prizes for them over the next week or so.

Best excuse or the person who makes excuses throughout..... there is always that one person who comes up with stuff as to why they are going to be rubbish at xyz (this is a regular award at our RC camp)
Small prizes given by coaches for most improved flatwork, polework, sj and in other sessions if other disciplines too

I've done a couple of adult camps, and at the end everybody got a prize. Loudest (human), best fall, always late, dirtiest horse etc. I got "Most out of control" because we hadn't jumped in a while, my mare loves it, and she was galloping at everything 🤣

You could just wait until you see what happens, and pick suitable categories from the events over the weekend

I'll do most improved etc but it's more of a what kind of in camp competitions did you do at pony club beyond turnout, neatest stable and things. The ones that could be judged not on a horse.

Oh, we also had a gymkhana on the riding school ponies. Bobbing for marshmallows in flour, sack race, musical chairs etc. Hilarious! For anybody who's never done the bobbing in flour thing, it takes about 20 minutes to work the flour out of your mouth......😝

Oh, unmounted gymkhana games surely…Apple bobbing, sack race, wheelbarrow…egg and spoon. Also, unmounted jumping and dressage.
Quiz in the eve.
I want to come, sounds hilarious!

How about a wheebarrow race? in-and-out of bending poles ,along a plank and then fork a bag of hay over a high bar and run back to the start.

As much fun as that would be I have a couple of people with quite seriously bad back issues and I don't want to encourage them to break even more 😂😂😂 but I will keep it in mind for another year!

Anyone who ever went to a Moray Riding Club camp at Burgie has a million memories of ridiculous games from walking the plank over a pool, obtained from who knows where, sack races, four people in a one ton bag, three legged obstacle races, trying to end up with lots of water after an obstacle course, eating revolting stuff in a team…. (Tuna brine anyone)
all accompanied by a little alcohol and consequently enormous hangovers!
aah, the nostalgia…….

Prettiest mare / most handsome gelding? :) Nicest trot in an outline (not forced with any contraptions lol) to highlight TBs who've learned to use themselves / their back ends? After lots of long reining with my old boy ex racer, we were proud to show off hard earned self carriage :) xx

Name the points of a horse - leg, nose, head 😁. Only did a few PC camps but the best stable was always serious - remember plaiting the end of a straw bed. Too long ago to remember anything else.

The non horsey ones we have at camp are:
> courtesy cup (instructors and helpers vote) for the person that has been the most helpful, polite etc without prompting
> best girl and best boy for those that have just been overall the best all rounder in camp, so good at the stables looking after their own horse, good at supporting others, good at joining in in the pastoral side of camp

Most interesting quarter mark.
Best plaits
Best stable decoration
Most enthusiastic
Best trailer reverser
Best kept stable
Best poem about their horse

I'm doing a Best Turned Out and I have a super groom coming in on Saturday afternoon to help people with plaiting, quarter markers etc.

Neatest stable and best decorated stable door are also on my list.

I've bought a wee trophy for the most improved rider. Some medals for bto, stable and door tag so far along with a load of winners ribbons for the evening nonsense which will involve mini dressage tests, hobby horse or space hopper races, quiz etc.
