Pony Club Championships 2010

I was so happy when I qualified for the PC Champs and the day was everything I could of hoped for. When you read this report please remember a few things.

1) I have had Twizzy 1 year.
2) Twizzy had never evented before I got her
3) We compete at BE100
4) I have never ridden in a long arena.
5) And of course she is a spooky WB :D

I bathed Twizzy on Monday night and turned her out, it was sunny and dry so I thought the forecast had changed and we would be ok. Urm no it chucked it down from about 4am onwards. So I thought that Twizzy would be really grubby but she wasn’t She was clean yay.

We set of to Draycott trying to beat all the Nottingham traffic, which we managed to do, and arrived at the ground. We got our numbers and get tacked up and got on. I was the first one to go in my section I warmed up and off we went. I was please with my test, I didn’t go wrong and everything happened when it should, no spooking so it was all good, I thought I would be around the 36 mark and later found out that I had 35.65 ;).

Showjumping didn’t seem overly big at all, this might be due to the fact that Twizzy is 16.3 and she makes everything look so small. She fab a fab round but we got 1 time fault but not to sure how :/ but never mind 1 fault is much better than some 24+ faults that were coming in.

Cross country had a few things that I knew would test us a coffin at fence 4 if she didn’t see the ditch in the middle I knew she would jump it massive and run past the last bit and at fence 16 there was a VERY skinny log along the side of the fence.

We set off well over fences 1,2 and 3 fence 4 was the coffin, we jumped the 1st part fine and she locked on to the last bit and at the last moment she saw the ditch and just jumped so big we landed about 2 strides the other side of the ditch and just couldn’t turn in time, I turned her left after the fence and couldn’t get to the last bit so another turn on to the right rein and she popped it fine, I ‘think’ this is where I picked up most if not all of my 19 time faults.

She flew over the next few fences giving me the best ride ever flew everything on a fab stride, she flew down the hill over a fairly big log, to a trailer and into another wood before the water, gosh that table was bit it was well past the top of my dads legs and he is 6.2ft!!!!! She flew in the water and out the other side, up to the skinny log, up a step over another log, down the hill to a step up to a ‘tiny’ roll top, well this tiny roll top had the biggest drop the other side im 5.6 and it was nearly at my shoulders!!

And we flew the last few fences, she was so brilliant even with our stop. We didn’t hang around to see if I had come anywhere but it didn’t matter I was so pleased with how she had gone: D. I have bought my DVD so when it comes I will load it up and let you have a look and give me some speed tips hehe. We are at Winkburn next at the end of the month where im doing the BE100, I hope there isn’t and coffins………

Thanks for reading ;)

You both look fabby as always! The SJ does look quite small for a Pre Novice though? The XC it's always harder to tell from pics.

At least she goes over the ditches even if she does think they need an enormous leap! :D You've done soooo well with her and you look like a proper team.

What nationality WB is she? I have a KWPN and she is fabulous.

What are you doing next? Are you going to stay at BE100 this year or move up? :)

Very well done indeed! Love the photo of her doing the huge leap over the ditch! She is such an attractive horse, and obviously very capable as well!

What a great report well done! You have a lovely looking horse and she seems very genuine - lol at the landing after the ditch! Bless her at least she tried :D

Yey for team Twiggs

I am officially in love with Twizzy.

Well done, a fabulous achievement, and the twisty photos over the ditch are great!

What a lovely looking horse, the sort I would love to ride as she looks really keen and up for it
Well done!

congrats! major achievment for you both in such a short time. Im sure the coffin scaryness will reduce with practice! :)

:) Thanks, I hope so, we are ok if there is nothing after the ditch part hehe

I thought the INT course was a very good course, so well done :D

Did you see the skinny log near the open corners?? OMG it was tiny.......... im suprised we fitted inbetween the flags, well twizzy did but not my feet hehehe

Well done, sounds like plenty to be pleased about with that run. :) Love her mega-leap over the ditch... I have one who likes to throw in moves like that now and then. As Matafleur says- at least she went! :)

yh i knew she would go anyway, just wished i had got onto her quicker to keep going forward... oh well

She is stunning!! You make a fantastic pair, well done both of you.
thanks

Well Done! Saw your SJ round, looked very tidy. :) Poles were flying everywhere....

Thanks :D, you should of said hi :)

Well done :) Great result as it was a tough course! ohh and that coffin was nasty, early on in the course and jumping the ditch on the angle, so I wouldn't worry about it to much :D

Well done Rach ;-)) Twizzy looked a little star as always and a real credit to you and all your hard work!

LOL at the coffin.... well sat ;-p

For coffin training they have quite a few at Aylesford...not far at all for you? a few complexes there x

really well done to get there and getting 2/3 right, such a shame she saw such a big dragon in the ditch, at least she's brave though, better than dithering on the edge of the ditch and stopping, bodes very well for the future. lovely mare, really like her!

well done!! :) very good SJ - although it was tiny, lots of poles were going flying, so very well done :) and well done for getting round a tricky xc course :)

Twizzy is so lovely! :D

Well done to the pair of you, you have gone so far in just one year. x :D

Thankyou.

no its not far but its such a long way round for someone to walk with me....so i thought could eaither go up to danethorpe or somewhere else, just not sure were..... is there a coffin at winkburn?

Well done, heard the xc was tough! And shes making the SJ look smaller than area!
Good luck for winkburn :)

the sj @ area was on 4ft wings as well, so i think that makes theses look even smaller..

Thanks, she isnt the sort of horse to dither on the edge as the monsters still might get her :p:p so a big leap is the safest option.

Thanks, it was such a fab day :D

Sorry was out at Shelford yesterday & missed this report.

Well done, she looks fab in the photos & is giving the showjumps loads of room :D

I have done the BE100 at Winkburn & in the last two years there has been no coffin, so as long as the course doesn't change you will be fine. :)

Rach there is a coffin at Winkburn, i remember it from when i schooled around there last year, but i'm sure it was novice coffin, although, we jumped through it, it really wasn't that big, just log, steep down to ditch, steep up to log again.

I'm going to Grange de lings on sunday if you fancy joining us, might be a bit too far though for you.....just fb me if you fancy it x
