Please can anyone advise how strict the Pony Club are re: logos on saddlecloths at PC ODEs ?

I'm not a PC member but have entered a couple of open PC events and having just read the rule book am a little concerned that my saddlecloths won't be acceptable. The logo is just a manufacturers logo and conforms to standard BE size restrictions, but it looks as though PC don't allow any logo on white dressage cloths.

Can anybody shed any light on how strict they're likely to be at an open competition?

Many thanks

I think it depends on the PC and how strict they are with their interpretation of the rules, I have seen them send someone back to remove a saddlecloth that had a logo on, we almost were not allowed with one that had a very thin black line around the edge, not really a border, but they did relent on that one, the same PC another year allowed a pony to go XC with the most amazing amount of gear on including side reins, which made me cringe, they decided it was fine and within the rules!! so be prepared and take a plain one for the dressage as if they do decide to stick to their rules you may struggle to argue with them.

Tack checkers are volunteers - so you do get a variance. If you are not a PC member and competing in an open class then your tack should only need to conform to safety and discipline specific requirements - not the aesthetic ones. But that said - be posiitve is right that if they decide to argue with you then you might have a hard timer persuading them different. Watch out for the "new" BP standard. I'm amazed at how many are falling foul of that at the moment.

Thank you.
I think I may need to go BP shopping tomorrow. I really can't afford a new one, but with the new standards it's inevitable that I'll need to invest sooner rather than later if I'm going to be able to compete.

If your BP doesn't meet the BETA 2009 purple standard you will not be allowed to compete at a PC ODE. So I'm afraid you are stuck there. Until the new rule came in I didn't realize how many BPs don't conform to what is actually a fairly old standard. But when I've been tack checking recently we had to turn a fair handful away every time. Not such an issue SJ as you can jump without a BP. But a major problem XC. Don't forget your medical armband either. BE have dropped the requirement - but PC haven't!
