Hi, my daughters got her first PC rally next week. Ive currently got her pony in a wilkie style snaffle and a grackle noseband it works very well for them. But just had a thought on whether its legal or not. Would somebldy be able to tell me if they are. I know neither are dressage legal, her main thing is jumping anyhow so not to fussed but will she be ok in this at rallie. Also i quite often put a daisy rein when shes on grass. Will this be ok?
Many thanks

For rallies, anything goes really. Wilkie snaffles and grakles are definitely allowed. Hope she has an awesome time- my PC years were the best, I had an absolute blast!

And, as she's under 10, she can compete in whatever bit/ noseband combination she likes unless it's a team thing- my sister did 'dressage' with a martingale and kimblewick on her pony until she hit 10, as it would bugger off with her otherwise! (but check the rules on that first, just in case!).

Ah thanks for that, i was hoping so bought enough new stuff so was hoping i didnt have to rush out for new bits and nosebands!

And thats interesting about the under 10s dressage, shes alot more into her jumping but is just off the lead and still finding her feet confidence in the ring so thought some walk and trot dressage would help that.

Ok i wondered where the PC rules were i havnt a printer but will ask my friend to print it off, shes also lending me her manual of pony ownership ( or something silmilar so i know the proper "PC" way, im guessing its similar to the BHS way. I guessing im going to have to really drum into to her the way not to build a jump is to jump off leave pony unattended where ever to build jump then run up behind and jump back on!!! Kids hey!!;)

Go to pcuk.org and search bits in their search bar and there's one link that gives you a chart on what your allowed depending on mouth piece and leverage ect. most bits are allowed, just not the severe ones usually :) hope she has fun! I'm sure she will, pc is great! Just ignore those snotty kids with their perfect ponies all tarted up :p I take my scruffy 'just dragged out the field' pony look :p they love him there thought, he's such a character :)

Kids! I still do this :o I'm certain I've taught Andy to 'stay.' :D

Heres the link to the disciplines, you have to click on the discipline you want to do and the link to the rules will be on there:

I think Games is the only thing they are really strict on bit wise, then you can only use a snaffle (and wilkie not allowed) but fair enough they dont want kids hauling on ponies mouths.
Otherwise wilkie is fine

oh and word of warning sons pony is in a grackle and at 13 he still cant do up the flipping thing , your daughter should be ok though being a girl :D
Hope she has a good time :)

Oh brill thanks for that, shes so excited bless her cant wait to get there!!! Ah yer were going for the au natural look hes a sec a but im sure once she starts riding she'll knock spots off the other 6 year olds. And she will always be the best in my eyes;).

Yer im sure Hokey knows stay she can leave him at one end of the arena and go to the other and he just waits!!! I think hes glad of the breather to be honest. It was the balencing off the pole of a jump to get on the other day:eek::eek: before i could stop her doing it she was up and cantering away little madam!! But spose we all did it when we were young!!!;):D

Now she will teach him 'sit!'

Soon you will have a very overgrown dog following you around :p

Hehe hes probaly better behaved than my dogs!! He comes to call in the feild and stays when told, neither of my terriers seemed to have grasped this and one is 14 years old!! So dont hink shes going to be learning it in a hurry, i should take him to the local park would probaly be a whole lot easier!!:D;)

Can anyone tell me if a happy mouth with roller single ring gag is allowed??

I am taking my new one to his first pc in a few weeks and on the chart I think it says no!!!!!!

It's the best bit for him it's a soft mouth piece!!!! Loads of people ride in gags but why can't I use a happy mouth with roller mouth piece with it !! my horse only goes well in happy mouth bits

For rallies it seems that anything goes! ;)

Plus, for a rally, is anyone really going to check the mouthpiece. After all it's not a competition.

The rules are for comps. PC generally prefer ponies to be under control and unless the bit is horrendously severe or badly fitted will allow most things for rallies.

Hackamores and mylers with rope nosebands are not allowed though.

Hello, my daughter takes her pony to rallies in a Happy Mouth Wilkie and also did camp with this...
Hope your daughter has fun, we started PC last summer and it has been good so far but lots of 'interesting' mums and dads, maybe thats just our branch though! Agree about ignoring the posh ponies! And the posh kids too, my daughter came away from her last rally and asked me if she could go to private school as all the other children in her group did and they told her that 'normal' schools are for chavs! Bless her she is only 7! But aside from that it has taught her a lot and she had an amazing time at camp!

I hope your daughter enjoys PC as much as mine does.

With regard to the tack at PC, my advice is that the most important thing for your daughter to remember is : when asked 'Who cleaned your tack?' the correct answer is 'I did'! and 'When did you clean your tack' 'I cleaned it after the last time I rode' PC mummies NEVER clean tack!

Hehe i will have to train her to say that, her tack cleaning needs a little bit of training, she still has the soaking wet sponge straight on leather thing going on!!

And thankyou shes really looking forward to it and i think she'll get alot out of it!
