Pony Club Meets - how do they differ to normal ones?

One falls on a day I subscribe too, so i would normally go along but wondering a) if its alright to, or is it just for pony club children, and b) how the day is going to differ - less jumping/smaller jumping/slower?

Just debating if I go, and what horse to take!

Thanks for reading ;)

I believe that adults are welcome, but the understanding is that you are there to assist the youngsters, some who may be hunting for the first time, explain things to them. There is usually jumping at ours, but they have picked a 'safe meet' away from busy roads and the huge series of jumps. Youngsters are usually invited up front to see what the huntsman is doing or to go with the master for part of the day as part of a hunting education.

Things will vary from hunt to hunt, so best check with the secretary as to whether some adult assistance would be welcome.

Thanks for the reply - can't seem to get hold of the hunt sec but will keep trying - was going to offer my services with a lazy cob and a lead rein!

Which one is it? I've been before - took lead rope, ended up leading one, very little jumping, nicely placed canters, a few lanes.

It was the PC meet at The Cedars, Normanton on Soar.

hi. we went as guests to one as it was literally on our doorstep. We phoned up and asked the Sec if it was Ok to go she said fine as long as we realised it was the childrens day and we must give way to them etc, keep a low profile etc. there were a few other adults out chaperoning young children. we had a really good time, it was a long day it turned out, most of the children rode better than us!! and the kids gave me good ribbing (once nearly all of them asked if i was ok of course) when i fell off at a fence. I'm a little bit nervous jumping much over 2'6 so was great for me.
Oh and keep out the way of the kids - the Sec must have been kidding! they were faster than us anyway mostly!

Ours is tomorrow actualy!...
Anyway, where I am, childrens meets are pretty mad! often get some children that arent educated properly with the basics before coming out and do not know how to behave so its pretty chaotic...ponies everywhere, a lot of screaming and often cries of 'I can't stoppppp!' (haha, painting a good picture for you am i?!)
but yes adults are allowed, its pretty much only called a childrens meet as it is in the local PC newsletters, whereas they wouldnt normaly 'advertise' other days like that.
our childrens meets are always at the same place...field master usualy takes field well away from huntstaff to let them get on, and also to nacker the wizzy little ponies out at the beginning i expect! we jump as normal..but all optional.
hope havent put you off, thats just from personal experience!

I am going on a very sedate cobby from work (riding school!) with a leadrope at hand to lassoo anyone in need....... thanks for all your replies!
