Can anyone tell me what Pony Club Open Dressage is equivalent to in BD? Is it Elementary or Novice? Looks to me like it is harder than a Novice but never done an Elementary, so not sure if its same level? Thanks!
its really quite an easy novice with a simple change!
Im guessing you havent seen the open test for areas this year then!? Its absoloutly horrible! Much worse/harder than any novice ive ever done... Ive not done an elem either, but id def say its harder than a novice.. im doing open too and really not looking forward to it!
it defnitely favours the 'proper dressage' combinations, not the 'eventers who do dressage' brigade which she definitely falls into.
It's actually a good thing if it does ask a few questions. It is the Open after all. There are 2 easier levels at area before this one.
A down c/l
C turn left
E half 10m circle to X, X half 10m circle to B
A 3 loop serpentine with 10m circle at B
MXK change the rein, showing med trot strides
Over A trans to walk for 2-5 steps, then trot
Immediatly at A, a 3 loop serpentine with 10m circle at E
C walk
H turn left to M
M turn right and proceed in FWLR
B half 20m circle.
between E * H med walk
Between H & C direct trans to canter
C 15m circle
MF 1 loop 4-5 metres from track
FAKE canter
E half 10m circle, over X simple change through walk, X half 10m circle to B
C 15m circle
HK 1 loop 4-5 metres from track
KAFB canter
B half 10m circle, over X simple change through walk, X half 10m circle to E
MXK change rein. Trot at X
FXH change rein, med trot strides
C 20m circle, and allow horse to stretch
before C retake reins
B half 10m circle, proceed down c/l
G halt, salute.
Good oppourtunity to check i know the test!!
Our PC team trainer actually helped to write it. Am not saying names, but its down to her. I have seen it, watched Mini TX and assorted team members practise it. Its not nice at all and its definitely an easy Elementary. There is lots of canter work in it and it defnitely favours the 'proper dressage' combinations, not the 'eventers who do dressage' brigade which she definitely falls into.
Oh well, good luck to everyone doing it, and good luck to everyone doing Area 14 at West Littleton on Sunday. I am so glad my dressage days are well and truly over, its a beast.
