my 13 year old daughter is keen to join the pony club now shes got a 14.3 on loan. weve looked at the website and there are some rallies locally. pony is 8 but very green was a rescue pony as a 2 year old and not done very much. any one whose children go on what to expect. :

Join! She'll have a great time especially with a new pony - you'll get lots of help and support. Rallies are usually taken by good instructors (one of ours is from the King's Troop). She'll make new friends and if she goes to camp will have the time of her life

I loved the Pony Club. You will get lots of help and support there, learn a lot and its a good way for her to make friends.

My son, who is 14, joined a few months ago & he loves it. He especially loved the Christmas party with mounted games and is looking forward to the inter branch quiz in a couple of weeks. His pony is ancient, so not super competitive. Put up a good show in the games though.

Definately join!

I teach at our local pony club - is always a complete mixture of ponies - from very green to very experienced all shapes and sizes. She would be fine. I loved being in the pony club so much - probably while I still go - just as an instructor!

Contact the branch secretary and ask if you can watch at one of their rallies - see what it is like. am sure they wouldn't mind

i am in the PC, ihave an 8 year old... like you but still green... i would go to the rallies that are not too busy, from experience, as mine jst went ballistic at all the horses and the space he had. If he/she hasnt done much then i would take it slow... but im not expert and have no idea what your horse is like. Go for ith though... you get so much help and support from the instructors and make fabby new friends!! Good Luck! xx

sounds positive.dont think either daughter or pony are very competitive just want to have fun improve, and get to know each other and would be great for her to have lessons with people of similar age and ability.

there is a very novice rally near us as we dont have transport{no money now weve got two},that is geared for nervous pony, nervous rider or new rider /pony combination so that might be a good starting point

Without a doubt, joining the pony club is the single best thing that I have done in terms of riding...it provides a wonderful foundation, great friends (for life!) and is just great!

Sometimes I wish I could do a peter pan and be back at camp!

Join!! Really, do it. I had the best years of my childhood/Teenage with the Pony Club.
Your daughter will have loads of fun and learn so much, and so will the ned.
Highlight of the year is Pony Club Camp, so much hard work, but oh the fun!!!!

Wish I could go back a decade or so!!

I would recommend joining. My daughter is in the pony club, although she doesn't do that much with them these days. Both her and I have made some great friends through the pony club, and now participate in the committee organising of shows etc.

Also, it costs me less for Megan to hunt as she's in the PC. She's done all her pony club tests to B test, which is equivalent to BHS Stage 2, and will start working on her 2006 lungeing test this year and her AH test too.

Well worth joining, we've had some great days with ours.

I can only comment on the branch I was in...The Eridge....but it was great ! We got to do all sorts, and met loads of great people too

As has already been said, Camp is the highlight of the year....and oh what stories could be told from them

I think H&S has perhaps kicked in a bit now and camp might be a little more 'sanitised' than it used to be...but still worth every minute
