Hi, I've got a teenage daughter that's getting a bit fed up of nobody riding and having fun on our yard and i'm thinking about joining her up to a pony club. We live in Bradford and wondered if any of your teenage children go. What goes on how often do they meet my daughter has a 16.1 with her been very tall would she still be able to join in things with her not having a pony ? sorry if I sound daft but just wanting to find some info out. thanks for your help inn advance :)

I am a member of the Morpeth Hunt Pony Club and have been since the start of 2013, it's not local to you but the set up will be similar.

I'm 16 and ride a 14.2hh but there is all sorts of different heights of ponies/horses. She won't be out of place on a 16.1hh!

The rallies are fab! Everyone is so supportive, helpful and welcoming and I have yet to experience the stereotype pony club snobbery.

I would definitely recommend her joining, the friends I've made and the quality of training available is invaluable. I have came on so much with my pony in a short space of time and my confidence has went right up.

I love pony club :)
So many opportunities - i went to south africa with the pc! and hoping to take the A test this year :)

I wouldnt worry about the size of your horse, it dosent matter! :)

I enjoyed pony club as a teenager. Lots of opportunities for training and trying new things with your horse. Most of the older teenagers at my pony club had horses so I'm sure 16.1hh will be nothing out of the ordinary.

Hello I am 22 and thinking of rejoining PC this year to do some cheap eventing alongside BE. We're in Leeds/Bradford and we used to be in Ryburn valley PC.

I am in the pony club and have had very good instruction through it, subsidized training and HSBC eventing training. I got a 16.2 racehorse when I was 16 and took it to PC a week or so later!! All the top riders have come up through PC and really recommend it, there are so many opportunities not matter what level you are at.

Another enthusiastic endorsement from me. Our children have made long term friendships and had experiences they would not otherwise have done.

Totally agree too, my daughter is now 15 and has done PC since age of 7, has made many good friends there and so have I ..and been to some great places to compete and train, you do get the odd snobby person, as in all walks of life, but overall a great experience!

I have been in my current Pony Club for 14 years and intend to stay right up until I'm 25! (currently 20) It has taught me and my countless horses an incredible amount, taken me to all the big championships, I still have to friends I made when I first joined as a 6 year old and I now love giving back to the younger members. I really cannot reccommend it enough, personally.
With not having a pony you'd need to join a centre rather than a branch as they provide horses. Our club does lots of on foot fun activities too or if someone's horse is out of action an alternative is always very kindly offered. Hope that helps
