Ok well Toto normally has chaff in winter and just grass and hay in summer, he gets a bit tubby! But in winter he tends to lose a bit of weight, but he's fine and stays nice and round on haylage and Hi-Fi Lite chaff. Was wondering about getting him some pony cubes such as these to go in his snack ball or with his chaff. But, will they make him fizzy? He doesn't need any more energy, so no fizz please! Are there any cubes that contain all of the vits/mins he needs? Or would high fibre or slow release energy cubes be better for no fizziness?

Thanks

Have answered your question in New Lounge - but to summarise, yes most brands of cubes (including High Fibre Cubes) will supply vit/mins BUT will only supply the full amount if you feed approximately the amount the manufacturers recommend - this is often more than the average horse or pony needs. If you are keen to make sure pony gets its RDA of vit/mins but don't want to feed the recommended amount of cubes, then you can consider a balancer (if pony doesn't like powdered supplements) instead as they are designed to be fed in small amounts but are concentrated in vit/mins. They are like small pony cubes so more appetizing than a powdered supplement.

Cereals often make ponies fizzy so High Fibre Cubes which are low in cereals are usually less 'fizz-making' than standard H&P cubes. Check the label for cereals such as maize, wheat, barley or oats.
