hi,
my 19year old 12hh pony had choke this morning and had the vet at 9.30am.
he is know eating a bran mash very sloppy with liquid parafin in.

but he still isnt passing any droppings,
i am very worried about him as i have owned him for nearly 10 years and he is the sweetest pony on earth.

any ideas on how to get him to pass droppings or any experiences of your own?

thanks

has he managed to eat and drink normally today. it might take a while for his digestive system to get working. did he need a sedative. i would keep a close eye,any symptoms of colic get the vet. fingers crossed for a pooh soon. my old mare had choke a couple of times ,was scary but recovered well.

hi,
thanks

he has been eating a very sloppy bran mash to try and keep him hydrated, just been out and he has done a normal pile of droppings for him. :) so fingers crossed

I would call the vet and ask him rather than people on a forum. Choke can be serious and from what you say your pony could be impacted.

My horse is prone to choke and he choked a couple of weeks ago. This turned into spasmodic colic and he was quite ill luckily i called the vet when he choked. Keep an eye on him for any colicy signs and call the vet for thier advice.
