We took our borrowed companion pony (and poss showing pony) to the vets today for his xrays, he has suffered from laminitus for years, been kept field sound but not really done anything apart from sit in a field for four years, he came to us for the winter to keep our new pony company and I was determined with his owners permission to get to the bottom of things,
He loaded like a pro, even though we had to cage him in with straw bales as we have a massive Ifor Williams trailer and he is only around 10hh
travelled really well,
vet wanted to sedate him once in the crush but I asked to try without and he stood on the blocks perfectly for his xrays,
he has slight rotation in all four feet but loads to play with in regards to trimming, so vet is chatting to farrier and farrier will do four weekly trims according to the xrays!
im so relieved that we can keep him comfortable and take him out to some shows this year as my boys love him to bits, for a shetland x he truly is a lovely boy with perfect manners, not your typical bargy naughty shetland type at all,
Vet also said he was top notch condition wise so nice to see that the diet I have him on is working, he also said his feet look so much better since he first met him, a combination of my feeding regime and my excellent farrier.
hope to be able to post pictures of him with some frillies later in the year,
