Hi wonder if anybody has any experience of this, my daughters pony has come out in bumps/rash after coming off the trailer on saturday, we think maybe she had got abit too warm, she still has this rash which is only on her body they are not itchy and has got slightly better, they dont bother her in the slightest, anybody got any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

My pony got a rash last winter, sounds like your ponys rash but mine was a reaction to something. He had this rash for just over a week! I rang my vet and he said that to leave it and it should go away in time. If my pony seem to become poorly in him self or the rash didn't get better,I was to ring him. The vet said the only thing he could do is give him a steriod and he would prefer not too due to side effects etc. Anyway the rash went and it never came back.

There have been a lot of posts about this lateley on the forum, I am wondering if it is over rugging. My friends horse is going through a similiar thing and it looks like he may need to go to a hospital to have skin tests. She's changed the bedding, feed, brushes, etc but nothing has made any difference.

I've been posting about recurrent urticaria. On vet advice we are moving yards for a total environment change and are going to rough off and get the mare out as much as possible. Factors like over rugging/over heating and stress need to be considered as well as exposure to something the horse is allergic to.

Steriods help to get the bumps down but are not ok for long term use and we are not using antihistamines (sp?) as we want to find out what triggers the problem.

Not overrugging in our case as I've had a TB with no rugs at all through all the really cold weather and he is still determindly lumpy.

Having said that this last week they have been getting better.
At the weekend I cleared out all the debris that had accumulated behind the kick boards in the stable as skin tests showed reactions to mites.
I have stopped wearing my warm goose down lined jacket as goose feathers were another trigger.
Lastly I have been boosting his immune system with Immunoplus and Restore from Global hers.
Not sure which if any helped.
But after skin tests and months of Urticaria, I'm trying everything I can.
