Oh I'm so very sorry to hear this but you did the best thing for him and he was very blessed to have had so many years in his loving forever home - not many ponies get that.
So sorry but at least he was at home so not put through any stress. You made the brave decision and put his welfare first, he was a lucky pony and hopefully you have many happy memories to comfort you.
Sending you horsey hugs.....be kind to yourself, it's been an emotional roller coaster but happy memories will replace the shock in time. Rest in peace lovely pony.
So sorry for your loss, you have done the right thing by him. I have one not as old but who I know I will have to make the decision for in the near future x
Had him put to sleep an hour ago. Half an hour before that he suddenly started lying down again and was clearly not happy. Couldn't put him through it anymore. Devastated.
No words will comfort you just now, it's a raw, painful and upsetting time.
But......
You have done the right thing, we are all here for you whenever you need us, to reminisce, to have a shoulder to cry on, what ever you need, whenever you need.
So sorry , one day you will take comfort from knowing you did the right thing
I lost my 32 year old mare to repeat bout of colic. As heartbroken as I will always be over losing my pony of a lifetime , I did the right thing for her .
