Little pony at our yard has been ill for a while now (initially colic-like symptoms, but progressed). The other day he was referred to Leahurst as an emergency. They used our trailer and i went with them. The vets did an ultrasound of his kidneys and part of his guts, blood tests and a peritineal tap and apart from very low protein, they couldn't find anything. His temp and resps were sky-high, he wouldn't eat and whatever was wrong with him had caused laminitis.
He's only 6.
His owner has just text me and said that the vets are now thinking it's cancer (somewhere in the guts) and that they're not sure if he's going to get better.
They're doing more tests, but it's not looking good.
So positive vibes for Harry please. And if anyone has any experience of cancers in horses, how often is it treatable?
