pony likes licking shiney things!!

Mobile fone, ipod, car lights, yard lights, inside crisp packets (but not for the crumbs!!) If its shiney he will lick it!! Does anyone else have an equine friend that does this too???

no but my lad has to lick every shovel he see's.i think hes seen the farmer using the shovel for chopping beet for the cows,and now he has lick every shovel he see's lol

My 17 hh stallion (until last week - he's now a gelding) LOVES the milk tanker. He licks that - I think because he wants to see the beautiful boy's reflextion better and it's always dusty!

mine doesn't lick shiny things but is obsessed with lights/reflections in the dark. If you shine a torch or open your phone at night he is inordinately interested! Special boy.

Mines obsessed in watches! Stroke him with a watch he will extremely gently get his teeth around it and nibble/suck/chew it! He also likes padlocks, especially the barn door one, maybe he wants the food out of there

My Bengal cat however, is a magpie for anything shiny and crunchy sounding. I came home one day and he had buggered off with the lid to the tin of roses (found in his bed) and had unwrapped about 20 chocolates - none eaten - and taken the wrappers to his bed. Glasses (as in ones you wear) are fair game, car keys always go missing...I think the only non shiny thing he has taken recently is the wheel of camembert (in the box) which he nicked off the table and I chased him up 3 flights of stairs to get back!

Both definately love torches and as soon as mobile phone out Echo there looking and if you try and take a picture of anything other than him he shoves his nose in or knocks your arm!

I know a horse that doesn't just lick shiny things, but instead looks into them and then licks them. He was at a show with me and he was facing a shiny new Ifor Williams trailer and looking into it with admiration as if he was saying 'Oh! Now who's that handsome boy?!" and then he proceeded to lick where his nose was

A while back I read of a horse that liked to suck the wing mirrors of any parked cars he passed. And out on a forestry hack once, the trek leader had to stop a humungus logging lorry to ask for a little consideration re the line of about 15 horses and riders behind her. As she stood there giving him a mouthful, her horse took the bloke's wiper blade in his mouth and kept twanging it against the windscreen.
